Buddy Todd Park, Oceanside

September 17, 2019 – 34 species

The weather for our walk at the City of Oceanside’s hilltop Buddy Todd Park was ideal, with clear skies, delightful ocean breezes and temperatures rising from the mid-60s to the mid-70s.  Avian highlights among the park’s beautiful trees included Cooper’s, Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks; a Mountain Chickadee; a Northern Rough-winged Swallow; a Black-headed Grosbeak; a Western Tanager; a Swainson’s Thrush; and a few Western Bluebirds, Mockingbirds, Black Phoebes, Bushtits and Scaly-breasted Munias.  Some of us enjoyed lunch at the nearby Habit Burger Grill on El Camino Real.
