The Birdwatchers had a lovely impromptu walk in our Ocean Hills Park adjacent to Arcadia Way.  The temperature started out at a cool 58°, warming up to 73° by the end of the walk.

Anna’s and Allen’s hummingbirds were everywhere.  Multiples of species were flying from tree to tree and among the beautiful blooming flowers.  There were at least two endangered California gnatcatchers that were first heard by their kitten-like mew then revealing themselves allowing us great, long looks.  Say’s phoebe, a Black phoebe, and several Scaly-breasted munia (also called Nutmeg Mannikins or spice finches) also allowed us more good looks and photographs.

One of the highlights was a flyover of a Northern harrier that circled a bit for us to identify it.  The end of the Park is adjacent to the Carlsbad Highlands Ecological Reserve where we walked up the trail a short way ending the walk.
